SoMee’s Exciting New Features and Updates — A Virtual AMA (6/2023)
Greetings, SoMee community! We’re thrilled to bring you a myriad of updates and features that we’ve been working tirelessly on. Although our usual AMA can’t be held due to these intense developments, we hope this article offers a comprehensive overview of what’s coming next.
Lights, Camera, SoMee!
Firstly, we have some exhilarating news for our community. SoMee is going to be featured on a major television show! We’re keeping the details under wraps for now, but this accomplishment signals the immense potential of the SoMee platform.
The Arrival of SoMee Version 5
Our dedicated team has been refining SoMee’s new version — Version 5. This update will introduce a sleek look, account switching, and full fiat monetization options. Moreover, Version 5 will be faster and more streamlined, facilitating quicker and smoother future developments, backed by HTML5, Bootstrap 5, and the latest jQuery.

Cover and Avatar Changes
Now you can update your avatar from a new image (upload it) or use one of the existing images you had uploaded before.
Videos can now have categories
This will make finding your videos, or favorite videos in the feed much easier in the future :)
Stories now support ads
Now, you can mark stories as ads so that all users (who can see) are able to see it.
Switch Accounts
Have multiple accounts in your household (kids, older kids, adult kids who never leave the toilet seat down)? Now, you can be logged into multiple accounts at the same time, and easily switch between them.
New Login Options
We are adding many new login options, including Wallet, Magic, and other Social logins too. This will extend the ability for you to link your social accounts across SoMee (we have an exciting announcement about that in Q3 of this year as well!)
Monetization and Tipping: Turning Creativity into Revenue
Monetization and tipping are cornerstones of the SoMee platform. We’ve integrated Stripe to facilitate tipping and monetization for user profiles, pages, and groups. Users can now gate their content and receive tips from the SoMee community, transforming their creativity into a source of income.
But that’s not all. We’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with another global payment provider. This partnership will broaden the range of monetization options available to you, making it even easier to earn from your content.
In addition to these developments, we’re introducing SoMee Creator Premium and Lite accounts. These accounts are designed to put you in control of your earnings. You can choose to onboard only when you’re ready to cash out, giving you the flexibility to manage your earnings in a way that suits your needs.
Remember, SoMee is a platform for everyone. Whether you’re an influencer or just starting out, you have the opportunity to share your content and earn from it. Let your creativity shine, and let SoMee help you turn it into a tangible reward.
Simplified Onboarding Flow
We’ve optimized the onboarding process for both individual and business users. The new system will guide you through the process in just a few steps. If there’s an issue with your registration, you’ll receive a notification, and you can continue with your onboarding.
Setup
Now, when you visit Settings -> Monetization, you’ll be able to quickly setup your onboarding with Stripe:

This is a simple 3-step process where you fill out the necessary information on step 1 (SoMee will use what we already know about you, but will NOT save any of this information to your profile, or on our network). You then step through the rest of the terms and disclaimers, and accept submit!
Done!
Once your onboarding is complete with Stripe, you’ll see the below screen! Don’t worry, if there are any issues, the service will allow you to continue the onboarding session with Stripe, and you’ll usually see the reason why the onboarding failed as well.
Harnessing AI for A Better SoMee Experience
In our mission to redefine social media, we’re utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI). We’re diligently working on integrating AI into SoMee in innovative and user-friendly ways.
One exciting application of AI within SoMee is post and image generation. Rather than merely using AI for automation, we’re employing it to stimulate creativity and inspiration. Whether you’re crafting a post or curating an image, SoMee’s AI will provide helpful suggestions and ideas to enhance your content.
Moreover, we’re leveraging AI to help you stay organized and proactive with Post Reminders. Our AI will analyze your activity and preferences to suggest optimal times for you to post, helping you maximize your reach and engagement within the SoMee community.
That said, our vision for SoMee + AI goes beyond these functionalities. We’re exploring other social elements that can be augmented with AI. While we can’t reveal all the details just yet, we assure you that our goal is to create an AI that assists you and complements your social media experience, rather than replacing you.
Furthermore, we’re committed to maintaining SoMee as a platform that values and respects user privacy. Our AI integrations are designed with this principle in mind, ensuring your data and interactions remain secure and private.

Streamlined Space for Social Interactions
We’re ensuring that SoMee is as social as possible. We’re simplifying the sharing of images and media and introducing live-streaming video and audio rooms, with some exciting partnerships on the horizon.
Integrating AR and Video Experience: Partnering with Dyte and DeepAR
To coincide with the launch of Version 5, we’re partnering with Dyte and DeepAR to enhance your video experience. Anticipate features such as face filters, custom filters, AR filters, try-ons, and beauty filters!
SME Token and Other Opportunities
The SME token, hosted on the Hive Blockchain, continues to be a crucial part of our platform. You can continue to post on somee.blog and other frontends and see that content on somee.social, even after Version 5 rolls out.
In addition, we’re exploring a partnership with a major loyalty provider to offer tangible benefits for your social efforts on our service. This means that even if you opt not to use platforms like Stripe or Hive for monetization, you can still reap rewards on SoMee.
